2004 Seattle Round Robin
Welcome to the 2004 Seattle Round Robin tournament!
Heres a summary of the event:
Matches should be scheduled between now and October31, 2004. This will leave
sufficient time to schedule and play the semifinal and final knockout matches
before things get busy for the holidays, as well as have all points earned and
awarded in 2004.
If the Canadian Unit wants to have a playoff again this year, my intent at this
time is to have the team from each flight who has the most Victory Points two
weeks before the event to represent our unit. This will encourage teams to finish
early. If there are any objections to this idea, please notify me as soon as
possible. The only alternative suggested was to have last years winners from
Seattle playoff against this years winners from Canada.
If everyone can finish their matches earlier than the deadline, well be able
to hold the semifinal and final matches earlier in the year; as you can see,
this is a pretty flexible schedule. Id like to encourage all participants to
schedule their matches promptly, so we can avoid the last-minute scramble!
Enclosed you will find:
1. Conditions of Contest for the event. This year is scoring by Victory Points
(30 point scale). This will minimize the number of teams tied at the end of
regulation play, and will stress the goal of winning the match rather than by
how large a margin. However, remember you report IMPs and I convert to VPs.
2. A team captain summary for the flight you have entered, including team members,
phone numbers, and email addresses. ( I will send this later)
3. A schedule outlining the matches you must play. Please note that this is
simply a guide specifying the teams you must play; the times, sites, and evenings
you choose are your own responsibility. (I will send later)
4. Reporting slips, to guide you in reporting the results of your matches. These
also contain the 30 point Victory Point scales that will be used to convert
your imp margins to VPs. Please note that it is especially important that if
you are reporting the match results that you list the players who sat out for
both your team and the other team.
Many teams have more than 4 players so please ask who did not play on the other
team and include their names as sit outs, either › match or the entire match
along with the members of your team sit outs.
Most teams have at least one member with an email address, so you may find it
easier to schedule matches and report using the internet. This strategy is encouraged,
but other means are just as effective. I do know that several teams from last
years event commented on how easy it was to schedule matches with email, so
you may find this helpful in your own efforts.
Some other notes:
1) If we have multiple brackets with in a Flight this year, it will be completely
random. If I hurt anyones feelings, it is completely unintentional, and is the
result a bad roll of the die my apologies!
2) If anyone has trouble scheduling matches, please let me know right away.
I know the summer is a busy time, but we should have no trouble completing all
of our matches by October 31st.
3) Please try your best to handle your own rulings. I realize this is impossible
at times; under those circumstances, try to contact me, or a certified director
for a ruling over the phone.
4) Our main objective is to have a good time FUN is the prime directive!
5) It may be possible to set matches up at one of the local clubs, in the event
a good site cannot be agreed upon. Good luck to you all! Marci Knipschield (Event
